Trump Scorches His Own Cabinet Picks In ‘Most Epic’ Of Ways On ‘SNL’

President-elect Donald Trump (played by James Austin Johnson) declared that he’s picking the “most epic Cabinet of all time” moments before dissing his controversial nominees during the “SNL” cold open this weekend.
“They’re some of the most dynamic, free-thinking, animal-killing, sexually criminal, medically crazy people in the country,” Johnson’s Trump told President Joe Biden (played by Dana Carvey) in a sketch parodying their transition meeting at the White House.
Trump, who described the presidency as surrounding yourself with the “best people,” offered his takes on Elon Musk, his pick to lead a new “Department of Government Efficiency,” and former Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.), his pick for attorney general.
“That’s an alien versus predator,” Johnson said as he joked about the SpaceX founder and Gaetz, who has faced accusations of sexual misconduct.
Trump then turned his attention to South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem (R), his pick to be homeland security secretary, and conspiracy theorist Robert F. Kennedy Jr., his choice to lead the Department of Health and Human Services.
“They’re killing the dogs, they’re killing the bears,” Johnson said, whose quip played off of Trump’s racist lie about Haitian immigrants, Noem’s canine-killing tale, and Kennedy’s discarding of a bear’s carcass in New York City’s Central Park.
Carvey’s Biden claimed that the president-elect picked “a bunch of wacko jackos” to see “how compliant” the Senate will be with his policies.
Johnson’s Trump replied that the strategy is part of a “very smart plan that I definitely thought of before you said that.”
Elsewhere in the “Saturday Night Live” cold open, Alec Baldwin appeared as Kennedy while Sarah Sherman played Gaetz.
